Oh my god! So cute!

(I'll never understand why people hurt animals.)

I watched the movie "Blood Diamonds" over the long weekend and was so deeply affected by the film. People hurt people. People hurt their children. People hurt animals. People hurt the environment. And so the vicious cycle continues. There are many animals here in Canada that are on the verge of extinction. Some are cute like the seals, while other wildlife are not so cute. Both cute and not so cute still need to be protected.**

**Not to overshadow your seal post, but just as an addendum.

I fully agree with you, Sophie. All creatures need protection from the sort of barbarism exemplified by the seal slaughter - human and non-human, cute and less cute animals alike. Seals are not (yet) on the verge of extinction, but they are no less deserving of life than, say, the spotted owl.

It is often a very sad and blind world we live in.
