What? A soup swap?

I just read on this blog about a recent Seattle Soup Swap. How much fun would that be?! Make soup, package it into freezable containers, and swap!

Toronto vegans - and vegan-friendly non-vegans! - are you interested??

As much as I love this idea, I'm gonna have to pass on it :( "boo-hoo"

My hubbie and I have our own little assembly-line meal-making going thang on weekends, where we make a huge pot of food in the slow cooker and divvy it up between the two of us for the work week, i.e. lunches for work, etc.

It's saves us time during the week by not having to make lunches each night and we save $ by not buying our lunch at work.

Plus we get to eat healthy home cooked meals every day.

that's a cool idea!

we always make a big pot of soup or stew on the weekends too, and then freeze most of it. that way we aren't stuck eating the same soup all week, we can defrost and have different kinds during the week.

I'm a clutz and couldn't possibly deliver soup to anyone without spilling it.

But if you ever do a vegan cookie swap, I'd be in.

My snb did a soup exchange back in October and it was the best idea ever!! Plus, since there were three vegans involved everyone made vegan soups so no one was excluded.

If a Soup Swap come to pass out in Toronto, we'd love to post an announcement of it and some pics afterward at www.soupswap.com.

Out in Seattle, where we have tons of vegans, we have never made a rule on the soups that get made, as it seems that folks are generally cognizant of who's coming and there are so many great veggie soups as it is. We always tell our vegan friends, um, if you end up with a meat soup, share it with your pals.

Only once did one person get one soup they absolutely did not want.. I felt terrible as they were the last person in the room of 14 to swap and the last soup left...their own! Sigh!

BTW, in Seattle, we can always count on a fellow originally from Toronto to have some of the very best soup. He is an amazing cook. I almost always pick his soup first, even if it is "plain". Maybe you folks in Ontario have a gift for soup?

I would definitely be in. I'm not vegan so I'd need to run my recipe by someone first to make sure it was okay.
