Namaste, tube-top *bow*

I will update soon with what's been going on these past two weeks:
my visit with Trudi,
my clothing swap goodies
and this past weekend with families.

But for now, I introduce my latest knitting project:
Asana from Knitty.com.
Knitting a tube-top felt irresistible to me and, since it will soon be too warm for Tubey, I decided on a modified Asana. Where this pattern has neat-o tab closures at the back, I will just knit the entire back closed.

The colours?
Why, black and red, of course! Maybe I'll get all crazy and ballsy and add a completely different colour for the straps.

Maybe.

i like that knitty pattern a lot but i thought i'd mention another cute strapless pattern. do you know about lelah?
http://knittingforboozehags.com/freebirds/lelah-top

(if the link doesn't work, just go to knittingforboozehags.com and click on "freebirds". it's the blue tubetop.)

just thought i'd point that out in case you hadn't started yet and wanted another option. also, i saw you commented on michelle's blog about being scared to try knitting socks...I'M afraid of the heel too! wanna pick a pattern and try our own little "knitalong"? i'd go for it if i had someone to talk me down from the ledge during the frustrating parts!!

oops, i forgot to mention that if you type "lelah" into the search on craftster.org, you'll get a bunch of pictures of people who've made it. also i think someone wrote instructions on how they modified it to have straps.

hey all! sometimes i check back and see if something interesting is going on and here it is! tube tops -- woot! i really don't think i can work it, but i look forward to seeing yours...

re: socks. i recently talked sarah (seh80 from the vegan blogring) off the sock ledge, and i'd totally be willing to help either or both of you, of course! there's kinda almost a knit a-long going on right now around the ribbed fixation socks (those were my first ones): sarah, emily (veganknitting) and my local friend megan (lovely purls) are all making them!

i really like fixation and i like how the leg of the pattern is gonna fit anyone's leg cause its ribbed and stretchy so you don't need to worry about that part. and i like crystal palace dpns if you don't already have them...

the heel is INCREDIBLY intimidating at first when you don't know how to do it, but once you get it, you really GET it. the heel flap involves working back and forth (like a scarf, not in the round) and then the "turning the heel" involves doing stuff that doesn't seem to make sense but just works (and the turning part involves slipping a stitch from the left needle to the right, then putting the yarn in front of the stitch as if to purl and then putting that slipped stitch back on the left needle and then turning your work to work on the other side).

maybe i'll try to post some pictures at critical stages when making my second sock??? i'd love it if you guys could make socks!!!

i could always just teach ya in...erm...about 6 weeks!!!!

Thanks for the tubular links, Krissy.

See what I did there? I make even myself groan.

I love the idea of starting a beginner sock knit-a-long! I have been wanting like crazy to knit the "long socks" on knitty.com. Michelle, you may regret your offer of help ;)

What, you don't like the expression "totally tubular" ?!

hmmm, guys, i really like this pattern, but i haven't tried it yet cause it's toe-up. but i'm super in love with them. OR I might make the lacy wings pattern I just did, but up to the knee (it's stretchy) and tie a ribbon at the top like these ones of mishka's, but more lacy?

i'm gonna try to look for the long socks you like on knitty. gotta check out the heel and see if it's one i understand...

ok, i found them, i think (these?. I have caron simply soft in a bunch of colors that i bought to make for a hat for a guy i keep putting off calling back PLUS the heel doesn't scare me! (from my quick look at it!) very warm i bet, but i'm sure it will be cold again some day...(!)
