Happy Pride 2007!

In my world, the start of summer isn't signaled by barbecues or by trips to the beach. For me, the event that tells me we've finally reached summer is Pride Week. Whether the weather is humid and hot, or a rainy downpour, Pride is an event I haven't missed in years. And it looks as though the weather is going to be perfect this weekend with temperatures at 21 and 26 degrees and sunny skies.

"Homosexuality are sin..."

Last year, this guy stood at the edge of a dance area on Wellesley with a sign that said "Homosexuality are SIN!! According to God words only solution is Jesus". So we took this photo. Others took their own.

This year, the plans are just as loose as previous years. Tonight, we hang out on Church Street, tomorrow morning we run the Pride Run 5k, tomorrow afternoon I plan to pop in to the Queer Veggie Picnic put on by the Toronto Vegetarian Association, tomorrow night will be played by ear, as will Sunday. We haven't watched the parade in a few years – it is so busy along the parade route and the parade is so long. Instead, parade time is the perfect time to avoid line-ups and get food, use the toilet, check out the vendors and service booths, and park your butt in a comfy spot in a beer garden. With a warm beer.

I dread Monday morning, but look forward to having lots of fun this weekend! Happy Pride!

Yeah, the Monday morning after Pride...I didn't go overboard this year but still managed to tucker myself out and get to work late today, dehydrated and with ears ringing
