Blog address change

I'm going to change my address and blog name. I wasn't really thinking things through when I set everything up in the beginning, and now I have a name and address that really have no meaning. "Chaifae" is basically just a blend of "chai" (tea, which I love) and "fae" (another term for "faery.") Big whoop, right?

I have the new address secured, I just wanted to give a heads up. But first, before I do anything, does anyone how this will affect my blogging? Basically, what I am going to do is:

1. delete the blog/address I have secured
2. change the address of *this* blog to the new one
3. set up a new blog with my old address that directs people to the new address

Sounds simple and straight-forward to me, but does anyone see any sort of problem that I'm not seeing? I know anyone who is subscribed/bookmarked to me will have to update their links, but I will give ample warning before the switch happens.

Thanks!

i think you've mentioned all the things i would think about. the one thing that may/may not be affected depending on how you link the old to the new involves your lurking readership, like the people who don't get to you through their bookmarks but through other means. i guess they could find you again or you would just make a new lurking readership, i don't know. i remember when i was thinking about changing my blog address, cause i talk about other things other than knitting and cause there's something a little silly about my blog name (also one that i just came up with quickly, before i had the concept of anyone really reading my blog), aa worried that it was too late to be changed cause i was "known" as "michelleknits." don't know how much that matters, especially if the name "chaifae" (and now i know what it's about, which i always meant to ask!) has no meaning to you, then it shouldn't matter if you lose that part of your "blog identity." someone more web savvy might do better with this question and no more of the ramifications, if any, but these are my thoughts.

i look forward to visiting your new spot in the virtual world!

oh, and do you drink the black chai or the herbal chai? and are you still into faeries/fairies and if so, which?

i always thought the name of the blog was a funky way of spelling "hi-fi" like as in high fidelity. i've been pronouncing it wrong in my head all along!

p.s. are you going to stay mishka? i want to change my name from "jen" to something more interesting, but i figured people wouldn't know who i am if they are used to seeing me around as "jen", commenting here and there.

plus, is it even possible to change your screen name?

Thanks, Michelle and Jen.

Michelle - I drink black chai (loves me some spicy caffeine!) and I collect figurines form "The Fairy Collection" and have a few Brian Froud fairy books. I always said that if I got a tattoo, it would be a Froud fairy. BTW, I don't think "michelleknits" is silly at all. I like it, though it might just be because I've known you as that for so long. I used to read your blog before I started my own. I think I found most of the vegan knitting blogs through Atouria at Yarn Yoga, who I am familiar with via veganrepresent.com.

Jen - I would definitely keep "mishka," to differentiate myself from michelleknits, though I would probably reveal my real name somewhere in my profile. When I change the name/address it will be to the name I have chosen to use for selling my jewellery: threadedglass / threadedglass.blogspot.com. I'm not sure about changing your screen name, though I would imagine that it would be possible. Since you've had your blog for so long, I think that changing from "Jen" might get confusing, kinda like when vania comments as "vaniajoel."
