Now that July is almost over

It's too hot. 9:30 p.m. and still 28 degrees celcius (83 fahrenheit?). This girl don't got A/C.

I will start this post, and complete it in stages. Hang in there, dear readers (how many of you are there anyway??) and I should be done in a couple of days! I've been meaning to get this up, but have had some sort of weird blog-block.

Fireworks

It is now July 29th, and about time I blog about my month.

Our Canada Day weekend was spent in Ottawa, which is much more beautiful than I ever realised. We stayed with the boy's childhood friend, Skip. At a barbeque on Canada Day, we met many great people from Ottawa and some from NYC, and then walked up to Parliament Hill to watch the fireworks. I got some incredible photos.

By now, many have read posts by Michelle, Krissy and Tania and know that Michelle and Aaron visited at the beginning of the month, staying with Krissy for the week.

The day M&A arrived, we met up at King's Café for brunch - "we" meaning Michelle, Aaron, Krissy, Paul, Tania, the boy and me. I have to admit how nervous and giddy I was when I caught a glimpse of Michelle just before they entered the restaurant. I've compared this first meet many times as almost a celebrity meeting. When you are so familiar with 2 dimensional images of a person, and know much about their personality, when you finally meet it is like what I would imagine meeting a famous person would be like. Anyway, I adored them and loved meeting the lovely Tania, and Paul, and enjoyed seeing Krissy again.

It was my first time at the restaurant and I bowed to others' knowledge of what to order. To my surprise, I really liked the deep-fried breaded seaweed strips. The dumplings were great as well and I'm so happy Tania was on board for a second plate of them!

Walking the Market

After brunch, we wandered around Kensington Market.

What's going on behind me

The obligatory "What's behind me" shot. Wee, in the background: The boy, Aaron, Paul, Krissy, Michelle and Tania, and some unknown ruffian on a bike.

Michelle and Krissy

The next evening, we met up at The Drake for drinks. That evening's "we":
Krissy, Michelle, Aaron, Vania and Joel, and Carla!
I didn't have my camera that night, but here're other shots that Michelle and Krissy have posted.

Krissy, Michelle, Vania and I stumbled into the photobooth a few times, and each of us got a set of photos. This is mine!

Michelle and Krissy

The night before the New Yorkers-soon-to-be-Portlanders were to leave, we spent the night with nibblies and drinks at Krissy and Paul's house. And I fell in love with Noah.

Thanks to this whole veg/knit blogging thing, I am so happy to say that I have made friends with some wonderful people, both within and outside my own city.

The very next day, prolonging the happy-happy feelings of the week, I received my Japanese sewing books!

1) Simple Chic - a dress book
2) Skirt a la Carte - a (duh) skirt book
3) An apron book I forget the name of at the moment

Just a few shots of some of my favourites.

Seems the blogging block is probably a symptom of summer as I've read several people apologizing for their lack of posting. I won't apologize. I expect it'll get easier when the summer slows down.
